What is PayNow?

Receiving and sending money to your family and friends is now quicker and simpler. With just a mobile number or National Registration Identity Card (NRIC), PayNow lets you transfer funds across participating banks1 without the hassle of lengthy bank account numbers.

You can also make payments to corporates, such as companies, banks, and government agencies, when you PayNow to the corporate’s Unique Entity Number (UEN) or scan a Singapore Quick Response Code (SGQR) code with the HSBC Singapore app.

1Participating banks include Bank of China, Citibank Singapore Limited, DBS/POSB, HSBC, Industrial and Commercial Bank of China Limited, Maybank, OCBC Bank, Standard Chartered Bank, and UOB.

How to make a PayNow transaction?

HSBC Online Banking

Make PayNow transfers using HSBC Online Banking through the following steps:

  1. Log on to HSBC Online Banking
  2. Select PayNow from the Quick Links menu
  3. Select Transfer via PAYNOW and the payment account
  4. Input the beneficiary details and transfer amount to proceed
  5. Review the accuracy of the information especially the Nickname
  6. Click Confirm to complete the transfer

HSBC Singapore App

Perform PayNow transactions using the HSBC Singapore app with just a mobile number, NRIC, UEN or by scanning a SGQR code. 

Mobile number, NRIC or UEN

  1. Log on to the HSBC Singapore app
  2. Select Move Money > PayNow
  3. Select Payment account
  4. Select Identification type. You can select from the list of saved payees or create a one-time transfer. Key in the identification value ie. mobile number, NRIC or UEN.
  5. Input transfer amount and the recipient reference and click continue
  6. Review the accuracy of the information especially the Nickname
  7. Click Confirm to complete the transfer

Scan and Pay

  1. Tap Scan and pay > Scan the QR code
  2. Log on to the HSBC Singapore app
  3. Input the transfer amount, select the debiting account and click continue
  4. Review the accuracy of the information especially the Nickname
  5. Click Confirm to complete the transfer

Register for PayNow

To start receiving money, register for PayNow by linking your HSBC Current or Savings Account to your mobile number or NRIC.

  1. Log on to Online Banking
  2. Select your desired proxy account and nickname
  3. Review your details and confirm
